Description
Membrane scaffold proteins derive from apolipoprotein (apo; A-I). They are used in membrane protein sciences for the stabilization of membrane proteins in a lipid environment after the removal of the cell membrane. The size of the nanodisc is determined by the MSP that was used to create the disc. MSP2N2 D73C creates nanodiscs of ~17 nm in diameter.
This product contains an additional point mutation, D73C. This additional cystein can be used to further modify the MSP protein and this the nanodisc. And example for such a modification would be the addition of a biotin-tag.
